This year has been an incredibly emotional and hectic one for me. I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder a couple of years ago but, even after working with my doctors to try and get to grips with the illness we failed and i struggled. I struggled to the point where i ended up in a psychiatric hospital for some time, and even though it was wonderful to take the opportunity to sit quietly, and read a book without my kids interrupting me, the realisation would constantly hit me, that i was not well and that this wasn't a passing cold, it was for the rest of my life.
The world in its current state is getting much better at understanding mental health issues and how to help people with them. For me, i just want people to know more so that my kids have the support they require if they were to be diagnosed (A child of one parent with bipolar disorder and one without has a 15 to 30 percent chance of having BP) when they are older. The Black Dog Institute is one way to ensure people get help and that communities are educated. It is full of wonderful, amazing people that dedicate their time to help so, let's keep them going and ideally, growing by donating whatever you can.
Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart x
